There are three convenient ways to get your quilt top to me:
In-person in Mt. Kisco: If you would like to meet with me, I meet clients on Tuesdays or Fridays, by appointment, at Pins & Needles Quilt Shop in Mt. Kisco. Please use our service form to choose this option and I will reach out to you confirm the details.
By mail: I accept packages by mail. If you wish to take this approach please fill out our service form and you will receive mailing details.
In-person, Lower Westchester: I offer limited appointments for drop off in my studio in lower Westchester county. Please fill out our service form and I will reach out to you to confirm the details.
How long will it take to receive my quilt once received?
I generally book about 3 weeks out. When you fill out the service form, you choose the method of drop-off (either mail or in-person). Once the quilt top is received, you should receive it back within the 3-week timeframe.
Do you do any rush quilting?
Not really, no. I think it is unfair to bump clients who have been waiting. However, my schedule is sometimes more open than it appears in the scheduler, and it never hurts to ask. If you have a rush job, please reach out to me at do***@wi***************.com and I will accommodate if possible.
How should I prepare my backing?
Any way you like! I accept vertical, horizontal and multiple seams. When piecing your backing, please try to leave a selvage edge on the outside wherever possible. The straight selvage on the edge makes it easier to keep the quilt square.
For the longarm, backing needs to be 8 inches longer and wider than the quilt top. This extra fabric is needed to stabilize the quilt on the frame. If your backing is less than the required 8 inches, it may be necessary to sew an additional leader to your backing prior to mounting the quilt. There will be a $30.00 charge for this.
If you prefer to send yardage, I will piece your backing for you. There is a $15 fee per seam.
I accept flannel, minky and 100% quilters cotton backing.
What about custom quilting?
I do not offer custom quilting at this time. Strictly computerized edge to edge.
Do you offer commissioned quilts?
Yes. Please reach out directly to me (do***@wi***************.com) for more information. I will work with you on design and fabric choices. Depending on the complexity and size, a custom quilt takes 6 weeks – 12 weeks to complete.
